Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts
What now?
That’s a common question we hear from landowners of all acreage. What do we do with the downed trees? How do we lessen the chance of wildfires or invasive plants? What about my creek and the riparian area that was scoured during the flooding? What now?
The immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene has brought many challenges, both to forests and communities. The EcoForesters family has risen to the occasion, both on their own and as an organization. We continue to help landowners regain access to their property by sawing downed trees. In doing so, we have discovered that the diversity of communities, like the forest, is resilient and will continue to thrive with time.
We are helping now. Through active volunteerism we are picking up the pieces. Through plan writing, we are helping landowners adjust to the changes to their forest. Through partnerships, we are facilitating the use of downed trees so they do not end up in landfills. And through your help, we are continuing our mission to restore and conserve Appalachian forests.
Can you help us now?
Your donation will help communities recover more quickly by clearing access for homeowners in need, utility companies and recovery organizations, and ultimately getting recreation trails up and running again in support of local communities.
What now? Teamwork, selfless volunteerism, and intentional planning that will rise to the challenges facing our forests and communities.
Community Foundation of
Western North Carolina Grant
Through partnership with the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina’s Emergency and Disaster Response Fund, EcoForesters is helping in the community. Your donation in support of our relief efforts will match this funding and keep our field crews busy helping others in need. In order for our community to continue rebuilding, we must work to safely remove the historical amount of trees that fell during the storm. Using this funding, we will be able to continue mobilizing our crew to support nonprofit relief efforts in need of sawing. We will also be able to focus our work in areas where payment for services might be a barrier. We are so grateful for this opportunity to support our staff and hope you will join our efforts.
